Description of Course:
AB 251 empowers courts to reduce the burden of proof in elder abuse cases when evidence is intentionally destroyed or withheld in long-term care facilities, imposing stricter penalties and requiring proactive evidence preservation protocols. This session will cover key compliance strategies, real-world case examples, and risk mitigation tactics to safeguard SNFs from legal liabilities. Leaders should attend to gain essential insights that ensure regulatory adherence, protect resident rights, and minimize costly litigation in an evolving legal landscape.
Learning Outcomes:
•Understand the core provisions of AB 251, including how courts can lower the burden of proof in elder abuse cases involving intentional evidence destruction in long-term care facilities.
•Identify common risks and scenarios of evidence spoliation in Skilled Nursing Facilities (SNFs) and their potential legal consequences.
•Learn proactive compliance strategies and evidence preservation protocols to minimize liabilities and ensure regulatory adherence.

BOARD REFUND POLICY
In order to receive a refund, cancellations for QCHF/CAHF classes must be made five (5) business days (Monday-Friday) prior to the beginning of the course. Cancellations must be in writing to cmerced@cahf.org. Transfer of registration is done ONLY if notified in writing prior to the start of the class.
