The link will be emailed 24-hours prior to the virtual training date, and 15 minutes prior to the start for all late or same-day registrations. The email will come from an @cahf.org email address.

Description of Course:
This course focuses on communication strategies that foster trust, reduce behavioral distress, and support person-centered care. Staff will learn how to adapt communication styles to meet the needs of residents with behavioral health conditions.
 

Who Should Attend:
Administrator, Director of Nursing (DON), Facility Manager, Assistant Director of Nursing (ADON), Quality Assurance Nurse, Infection Preventionist, MDS Coordinator, Registered Nurse (RN), Respiratory Therapist, Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN), Activities Director, Dietary Manager
 

Learning Objectives:
1. Demonstrate active listening and empathy in resident interactions.
2. Adapt communication techniques for residents with cognitive or psychiatric conditions.
3. Use non-verbal cues to support understanding and reduce agitation.
4. Build therapeutic relationships that promote emotional safety.
5. Address communication barriers related to culture, language, or disability.

CE Hours (Requested):
BRN & NAB - 1 Hour
Registrants must be individually logged in for the full session to receive CE hours and certificate. Certificates will be available on your member dashboard after the conclusion of the training. (quiz and evaluation must be completed first). 

This program has been submitted (but not yet approved) for Continuing Education for 1 total participant hour from NAB/NCERS. Contact member.services@cahf.org for further information.
 

Audio/Visual:
Virtual training experiences will happen in real time on the date and time advertised. They will require a Wi-Fi connection, a laptop/computer and/or a smartphone. For the best experience, we highly encourage you to participate in a distraction-free environment.

Materials Provided:
Handouts/materials will be available in the chat box during the training.

To receive a refund, cancellations must be submitted in writing at least five (5) business days (Monday–Friday) prior to the start of the course or event. Cancellations may be submitted to registrar@cahf.org. 

Registration substitutions/transfers are permitted when requested in writing prior to the start of the course or event.
